to be the prime matchup in pool play and it didn disappoint. Each squad had a ton of Division I commits, with Long Island boasting 17 and Philly Nike Air Vapormax Dark Grey

Boys' Underclass Wrapup Notes
I arrived at halftime, when Long Island led 5 2 thanks to excellent goalie play from Dan Marino (Garden City from what I heard. Right off the Nike Vapormax Plus Orange bat, Philly Matt Rambo (La Salle beat top senior recruit Bobby Duvnjak (Manhasset for a goal. The talented rising junior was able to get the best of the matchup against Duvnjak that afternoon, using his size and strength to body him and get off well placed shots that found the net. The Long Island midfield was very impressive, with Brian Sherlock (St. Anthony and Danny Simonetti (Cold Spring Harbor tallying their team first two goals. These two midfielders had strong weekends, possessing awesome athleticism, a strong shot on the run and great play in transition. For Philly, Steve Brodeur (Strath Haven did his best to keep his team in the game, corralling a bevy of legit saves in the second half. Also enjoyed the play of defenseman Warner Bailey (Haverford School attackman Bradlee Lord (Conestoga and do it all middie Sean Coleman (La Salle Philly went on a three goal run to draw the deficit to one at 8 7, the LI midfield came on strong once again. Jake Froccaro (Port Washington registered in transition before Tommy Forsberg (John Glenn put in a bouncer from ten yards on EMO. Philly then responded with a goal by Will Gural (Haverford School before Bradlee Lord accepted a great pass from Sam Rohr (Haverford School to make it 10 9 with 45 seconds left. Long Island was able to hold on for the win, knocking Philly out of playoff contention with their second loss of the afternoon.
Highlights from Sunday Championship:
Another year of the Under Armour Underclass tournament is in the books, and I must say it was an excellent weekend of lacrosse featuring more parity than ever before. Two frontrunners, Baltimore and Philadelphia, weren able to advance to Sunday semifinals, while New Jersey, Midwest, West and Long Island were the last four standing. Then on Sunday, New England the world by defeating Long Island in the championship and handing them their first ever loss in the history of the event.

athletic midfielders were the two players that impressed me the most from the Midwest squad, a well coached team with a defense that surrendered the lowest goals against average all tournament. Some other players that scored and impressed were midfielder Joel Tinney (Culver Military and attackman Vince Gravino (St. Edward West did an outstanding job fighting back throughout the entire game, responding to Midwest opening run with three goals of their own and later forcing overtime after a nice goal by Sean Doyle (Torrey Pines the West top attackman. Doyle matchup, Zach Powers (Upper Arlington was superb, only allowing unsettled goals in this particular game. I heard good things about Powers but hadn yet seen him play and he didn disappoint, boasting great footwork and the ability to make plays in the passing lanes. For West, I couldn have been more impressed by the stellar goalie play by Arizona native Russell Bartle (Highland School who I had with nine saves in the second half. He made some clutch saves in the last few minutes of regulation and was great saving shots by his ankles. Some other standouts for the West were Tanner Scales (Salisbury School who was one of the top defensemen at the event, as well as Bailey Tills (Kent Denver Collins Gantz (Kent Denver and Cali residents Brendan Gaughan (La Costa Canyon and Kieran Eissler (Coronado
Midwest got hot right off the bat, started by a goal nestled near the inside pipe by talented midfielder Hayes McGinley (University School A minute or so later, another goal followed before Zach Wood (Metea Valley struck on a sweet shot on the run to make it 3 0.
