Brampton's young shooters did their job, as well, burying some impressive shots that found small holes around Goodleaf. While people all around him were giving him most of the credit for the win, Cosmo preferred to shine the light on the offense. Nike Vapormax Hot Pink "A lot of our young guys, if you want to call them no namers, stepped up to be big names," Cosmo said. "Not too many people counted us in this, so for us to come out on top is real big for us. I can't say enough about those guys. This was a full team effort and I'm pretty proud of it."
The differences in Game 6 were Anthony Cosmo in net and quality shooting by the Excels forwards. Cosmo made 48 saves and was handed the game ball in the dressing room after the game by head coach Mike Hasen.
on the Lakers aging roster to explain why they lost. "That's an excuse. I don't like excuses. I'm making excuses saying that we got outworked and whatever. The bottom line is that team played better than us. They earned it and we didn't earn it. We weren't willing to make the sacrifices. You can say age, you can say whatever, but quite frankly I just think they outworked us."
Self said his team may have thought the way many fans did, that the de facto MSL finals was their hard fought semi final win over the Six Nations Chiefs. "I think we looked at Six Nations as the team we had to beat to get out west and we played them earlier than we expected. I think when we played these guys we underestimated them in the beginning and by then it was too late."
Peterborough was a heavy favourite heading into the series and after tying it at 2 2 looked to be in a good position to win it in six games, with games 5 and 6 at home. But Brampton went into the packed Memorial Centre and beat the Lakers back to back on their own floor for a total of three times in the series.
Veteran Tracey Kelusky said the Lakers had the talent to win but didn't put in the effort needed to make it happen. "We didn't [do what we wanted to] the whole series," he said of Peterborough's offense. "That's a tribute to the way they played but it also goes in with that mindset that we had. We just assumed that we'd be able to turn the switch and one guy would be able to go out there and do it. We never really played a team offense. There was definitely glimpses of it and when those glimpses came are when we found success."
Consider them rebuilt. In what was viewed by many outside their organization as a rebuilding year, the Brampton Excelsiors have earned a trip to the Mann Cup, downing Peterborough 9 7 last night to beat the Lakers 4 2 in the Major Series Lacrosse finals.
A double overtime loss in Game 1 and then back to back wins in Brampton then back in Peterborough saw the Excelsiors' cofidence growing throughout the series. "I think that happens with a team like that," Self said. "They come in as the underdogs with not a lot of expectations on them, then every game they win they start to believe, "Yeah, we can play with these guys." And they showed it in this series."
"This was our Game 7," Teat added. "We had to Nike Vapormax Bred
Self said the most disappointing part of losing the series was they believed they could win their fifth national championship in eight years. "I think we had the team to repeat as Mann Cup champions and we just didn't get it done."
Teat talked about the approach and success of his young forwards. "The goals were quality goals. We were getting into the spots we needed to get good shots. The guys just kept going and kept going, they didn't want to stop going to the net and when they got there they buried the good ones that we needed. I think half of our goals hit the post and went in and that's just dynamite shooting."
Zack Greer was the leading sniper with 3 goals and an assist. John McLure added a pair after having 4 in Game 5. Dan Dawson chipped in a goal and 3 assists and Mike Hominuck had 5 helpers. Seven different Lakers scored in the game. Peterborough also hit the post at least 10 times, meaning either they were unlucky or Cosmo left them few openings and they had to try to be too fine with their shots. Most likely it was a combination of both.

"I just think they played a more consistent game throughout the series," said Lakers captain Scott Self. "We showed moments of greatness, in fact I thought tonight we had a great effort. We ran into a hot goalie and that was the difference tonight. But for the rest of the series, they stuck to their game plan and they played 60 hard shifts and we didn't. That was the difference."
"Their whole team played phenomenal," Kelusky said. "They deserved it. They went out and earned it." He was loathe to lean Nike Vapormax Flyknit Platinum

"He's a guy that knows he's the leader of this team," said assistant coach Dan Teat. "With all the guys leaving he's one of the guys who steps up and takes that leadership role. There are games where he put it on himself, the offensive guys were struggling and he said leave it to me, I'll make the stops we need and he did it.
left no doubt after the game that it was a bitter pill to swallow but that Brampton had earned the win and deserved their trip to Langley for the Mann Cup.

win this one with all the veteran guys they've got over there. Big guys step up in big games. Angus [Goodleaf] was lights out over there for most of this series and full credit to him but I don't know if anybody can look around this league right now and not want 44 [Cosmo] in their net with the game on the line."
